A vineyard with a deeply traditional background documents confirm vineyards producing wine as long ago as 1850 which has been carefully modernized, just the essential in order to preserve the identity of the wine, so it reaches the clients mouth with its virtues undamaged.

The traditional lore possessed by three generations, currently personified in Gerardo Méndez Lázaro a modern wine grower, who respects the received legacy and complies with the quality standards demanded by todays connoisseur , steers this vineyard. The family estate looks over the distant inlet of Arousa and the mouth of the inlet of Pontevedra. Located at the very heart of O Salnés, at the foot of Armenteira and the monastery, the ancestral home includes cottage and wine cellar.

The wine produced in this vineyard is named Ferreiro Galician for blacksmith, because the estate was purchased by the current owners father, who was a blacksmith. At that time, some abandoned vines were found amid the weeds. Presently, the wine named Cepas Vellas Galician for the old vines is produced from these ancient vines in a limited quantity.
