Lagar de Costa

Lagar de Costa is a family-run winery, where hard work is combined with the dedication of three generations linked to the care of albariño vines and the production of wine. The construction dates to over a century and has undergone several renovations, always trying to keep the stone structure and the original wood. The vineyards are 6 hectares of 100% albariño. 90% of the grape production comes from the family's own vineyards, some of which are over 50 years old, and located in the Castrelo parish, enclaved in the Complejo Intermareal Umia - O Grove (Red Natura 2000), in front of the island of A Toxa. The vines are grown in low lands with an altitude no higher than 100 metres and very close to the sea. The soil has a sandy loam texture, making it a very loose soil. The vineyard uses a vine arbour system that is perfectly adapted to the area, due to high levels of humidity, mild temperatures and heavy rainfall that is distributed throughout the year. The frame for planting is 4X4 (about 1,200 vines per hectare).
