Petroglifos de Outeiro de Cribo

Category: Monuments   |   Zone: Val do Salnés

They are engraved on a slightly sloping and flat surface on a granitic rock. The motives are arranged in a vertical way. There is a Mogor-type labyrinth of 60 cm of diameter on the upper part. It is crossed by a straight line that starts from the centre towards the right side, getting out of the perimeter. There is a series of undefined lines on it but they have been probably recently drawn.

There is a group of deers under the labyrinth. We can distinguish a 57 cm-long stag, easily identified by its antlers, and a 36 cm-long female deer. Both of them have some curved lives on their hindquarters, what may be understood as if they were carrying something. There are some unfinished lines over the deers and they may suggest incomplete figures of other animals.

There is a small rounded hollow and a stag (smaller than the others: 30 cm approx.) at the bottom right end and there are also two concentric circles of 20 cm of diameter with four casseroles inside.

There is also a riding scene that must be highlighted in the central part, to the left of the motives mentioned before. This scene is dated in a later period because of its morphology and its engraving technique.

Localition: They are located half-way up the skirt of a mountain, in the line of the summits of the Macizo de Castrove, close to A Armenteira and just a few metres far from the necropolis of Fonte do Lagarto.
