Ruta de los Molinos del río da Chanca Simes-Lores

Category: Nature areas   |   Zone: Val do Salnés

Most of the mills are water mills. They were traditionally used for milling maize, rye and wheat. They worked in a very simple way: the water run under the mill moving its sails and turning thus the milling stone.

There are many mills in the council of Meaño, especially in the parish of Simes (Muiños de Couso, recently restored, on the right bank of the river Chanca). Some of the most significant mills in the parish of Lores have been also conditioned. Ten mills have been restored within an area of two km, what provides a rambling route where the visitor can enjoy nature.

Geographic location: The route spreads out all along the parishes of Simes and Lores, in the council of Meaño. The mills are located by the course of the river Chanca, which runs through the council of Meaño.
